June 15th: Franco Persiani Prize Award ceremony
On Friday 15 June at 11.00 a.m. at Rocca delle Caminate, a prize will be presented in memory of prof. Franco Persiani, jointly organised by Centro Studi Franco Persiani, Ser.In.Ar. and the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics – Associazione Italiana di Aeronautica ed Astronautica (Emilia Romagna chapter), addressed to graduates who have discussed their Master’s dissertation on the theme “Innovation for the aeronautics sector” in the academic years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017.
The winner of the Prize (worth € 3,000) was engineer Santiago Hernandez Medina, for his dissertation entitled “Turbulent interface phenomena in a temporally developing boundary layer”.
Professor Franco Persiani, who died on 30 October 2015, has indissolubly linked his name to the development of a decentralised university campus of the University of Bologna in Forlì, with particular reference to the creation of an aeronautical pole. It was thanks to his commitment that Forlì became home to the second Faculty of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, which he directed for many years. It was again thanks to him that the CIRI Aeronautica (Interdepartmental Centre for Industrial Research) and the Ciclope project in the former Caproni tunnels in Predappio saw the light. In addition, his networks were also a determining factor in ENAV’s choice of Forlì as the site of its Academy. It is no coincidence that the award ceremony takes place at Rocca delle Caminate, which Persiani had originally envisaged as the home of the future Technopole of Forlì-Cesena, recently launched and managed by Ser.In.Ar.
The following will take part in the ceremony: Davide Drei (mayor of Forlì), Luca Piancastelli (University of Bologna), Erasmo Carrera (president of AIDAA), Gaetano Bergami (president of AIDAA Emilia-Romagna), Alberto Zambianchi (president of Ser.In.Ar.), Marco Di Maio (member of Parliament) and Riccardo Gulli (representing the Rector of the University of Bologna). At the end of the ceremony there will be a buffet brunch and a visit to the Castle.
